New Book: Judging Statutes

Judging StatutesRobert A. Katzmann, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, looks at the role of the judiciary in our constitutional system in his new book Judging Statutes. Demonstrating two interpretive approaches, purposivism (focusing on the purpose of the law) and textualism (focusing solely on the text of the written law), he explains the judicial process of interpreting and applying the law. Katzmann uses examples from his own experiences to show how this process plays out in the real world.
