The new book Your Fatwa Does Not Apply Here: Untold Stories from the Fight Against Muslim Fundamentalism by author Karima Bennoune draws on fieldwork and interviews with Muslims in places ranging from Lahore, Pakistan to Minneapolis, Minnesota to discuss contemporary opinions on the rise of fundamentalism in Islam and how it can be curbed. You can hear author Karima Bennoune, a University of California, Davis, School of Law Professor and former Amnesty International human rights lawyer, speak on Thursday, November 14 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel. This event is co-sponsored by the Dean Rusk Center, the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts, the African Studies Institute and the Law School’s Georgia Society for International and Comparative Law. It will be moderated by Woodruff Chair in International Law Professor Diane Amann.
