“Mr. Cohen, tell the court I love my wife, and it is just unfair that I can’t live with her in Virginia.”
June 12 is celebrated by interracial couples and families as “Loving Day.” Filmmaker Nancy Buirski in The Loving Story explores the story and the people, Richard and Mildred Loving, behind the 1967 Supreme Court case Loving v. Virginia which unanimously decided that all state laws banning interracial marriage were not enforceable under the Fourteenth Amendment. The film is an excellent reminder that behind case law are real people. You can check out the DVD from the Law Library DVD Collection KF224.L68 L69 2013.
