Anthony Lewis (1927-2013), a former New York Times reporter whose work won two Pulitzer Prizes and transformed American legal journalism died yesterday. In addition to law review articles, Mr. Lewis wrote several books including Gideon’s Trumpet about Gideon v. Wainwright, the famous decision guaranteeing criminal legal defense. Gideon’s Trumpet, published in 1965, has never been out of print.
In 1998, Mr. Lewis delivered the Sibley Lecture “Sins of the Press” at the University of Georgia School of Law. You can listen to the lecture from Georgia Law’s Digital Commons website.
