The University of Georgia School of Law’s Dean Rusk Center for International Law and Policy is sponsoring the conference The Cuban Embargo: Policy Outlook After 50 Years on March 22. In order to brush up on your U.S./Cuban relations history, check out the new graphic novel The Armageddon Letters: Kennedy/Khrushchev/Castro in the Cuban Missile Crisis by authors James G. Blight and Janet M. Lang with graphic narrative by Andrew Whyte and storyline and dialogue by Koji Masutani. Constructed using the letters exchanged by the leaders involved, the book lets you understand the history of the Cuban Missile Crisis by seeing it unfold through these first person points of view. There is a website with additional videos and podcasts that explore what lessons can be learned to apply to contemporary global culture.
