Riki Ott digging a beach on Knight Island. 'Exxon Valdez oil, 18 years later.'On Friday October 1 at 7pm, the EcoFocus Film Festival will be screening the film “Black Wave: The Legacy of the Exxon Valdez” at Cine. The film looks at the long legal battle undertaken by Riki Ott and the fishermen of Cordova, Alaska against ExxonMobil, as well as the environmental, social, and economic consequences of the oil spill on their lives. Following the film there will be a discussion with Dr. Riki Ott, a marine toxicologist featured in the film, UGA marine scientist Dr. Samantha Joye, and Dr. James Porter, associate dean of the UGA Odum School of Ecology.
