In a notice in yesterday’s Federal Register, the U.S. Copyright Office announced it is seeking public comment on how the U.S. Supreme Court’s opinion in Aereo will likely affect the scope of “making available” and “communication to the public” rights for copyright holders. Earlier this year, the Office had solicited written public comments and held a public roundtable on copyright law and communication in Washington, D.C. Their current request “provides an opportunity for interested parties to address issues raised” at that time as well as to “express their views on recent legal developments.” Comments will be accepted from the public through 5:00 p.m., August 14, 2014.
